EAIT researchers celebrated at UQ awards

A roll-call of high calibre researchers and research supervisors has been recognised for outstanding contributions in a range of fields at The University of Queensland 2018 Research Week awards.

A gala event at Customs House last night celebrated the diversity and quality of research undertaken at UQ, featuring projects spanning across a number of schools within the Facutly of Engineering, Architecture and Information Technology.

A number of researchers and teams from EAIT were acknowledged across three categories – UQ Foundation Research Excellence Awards, Partners in Research Excellence Awards, and Awards for Excellence in Higher Degree by Research (HDR) Supervision.

The awards were presented by UQ Vice-Chancellor and President Professor Peter Høj and guest speaker Great Barrier Reef Foundation Managing Director Anna Marsden, along with UniQuest CEO Dr Dean Moss.

UQ Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Research) Professor Bronwyn Harch said UQ was proud of its exceptional researchers and research mentors.

“These awards give us the opportunity to showcase the depth and breadth of research occurring at UQ,” Professor Harch said.

“We’re able shine a light on some of our incredible researchers and research supervisors who are creating change locally, nationally and internationally.

“I’m excited that we can also highlight and thank our UQ industry collaborators.

“These research linkages with industry partners are mutually beneficial and mean people all around the world can benefit from UQ innovation.”
