Dynamic responses of inclined structures under a moving load

In this research project, we wish to develop a vehicle-structure interaction (VSI) model for solving the moving load problem on an inclined structure (including bridges) which is modeled as a beam. The vehicle is first assumed to be simply a load. Further refinement of the vehicle model will be made to include the vehicle weight and the interaction with the bridge which requires the development of a sprung mass model. The final phase of the research will be to consider a single axle vehicle model. Based on this vehicle model, one can easily extend it to the moving train problem that allow for multiple axles, the rail roughness and the riding comfort for passengers.
