Types of Research collaboration
-
Australian Research Council Linkage Programs
The ARC is an independent body established by the Australian Government to advance Australia’s capacity to undertake quality research. An ARC Linkage Grant is an effective way to leverage your research dollar, giving you access to university expertise to solve your company's research and development challenges.
Your organisation can partner with School researchers to apply for a grant that, together with a contribution from your organisation, provides the critical mass to get research underway. School staff will coordinate the paperwork. The ARC brokers agreements with industry partners that take care of all the statutory requirements.
-
Joint School of Civil Engineering and Industry/Government Research Contracts
Organisations can partner directly with the School of Civil Engineering to establish agreements to undertake research and development. Contact Mr Howard Leemon, Manager of Innovation and Commercial Development to help put you in touch with the right expertise.
-
Joint School of Civil Engineering and Industry Research Scholarships
Organisations can partner with the School to co-fund scholarships for research higher degree (Masters and PhD) students working on projects in which the industry partner may have an interest.
-
Commercialisation services
Joint R&D sometimes leads to innovations with commercial potential. UQ’s subsidiary company, UniQuest Pty Ltd, plays a vital role in taking collaborative research successes to the world. A high profile example is Hydrexia, a company finding new ways to store hydrogen.
-
Strategic partnerships
The School of Civil Engineering has a number of strategic partnerships with industry. These partnerships supply funding for research and development, teaching programs and attract world-class experts to the School.
